Brief Posting Description

The Safety Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of safety programs and processes within an assigned operational function with regular interaction and integration with operational leadership.  Production, Construction, and Facilities operations will be the primary focus area for the position with ancillary responsibilities to support Drilling and Completions operations.  The position is based in Myton, Utah and will require more than 50% of work schedule to be completed in a field environment to ensure adequate support of assigned operational function. 

Detailed Description

  • Plans, coordinates and implements programs and processes to reduce and eliminate injuries, illnesses, environmental damage, and financial losses while maintaining regulatory compliance and company standards

  • Schedule planned visits to production, construction, and facilities sites for regular inspections, assessments and audits to align with Company expectations

  • Oversee, coordinate, and conduct incident and compliance investigations and causal analyses resulting in implemented corrective actions and dissemination of lessons learned

  • Provide guidance and support to operational leadership with regard to implementation of the SERC Management System elements

  • Coordinate and/or conduct safety training for Newfield employees and contractors as applicable

  • Provide oversight of Contractor Management Program for assigned function to include contractor orientations, audits, inspection of field operations, Contractor Roundtable meetings, and Contractor Expectation and Alignment meetings

  • Lead bridging exercises to ensure contractor safety alignment and compliance

  • Serve as a liaison for field operations leaders and contract service companies

  • Provide technical support for initiatives related to simultaneous operations  

  • Promote, educate and integrate Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) principles for operations personnel

  • Coordinate emergency response planning and integration for assigned operational function

  • Participate in the development and implementation of company programs, strategies, procedures, systems and other tools to assure SERC compliance

  • Provide technical advice to SERC leadership regarding safety programs and processes

  • Partner with Security & Emergency Management, Environmental and Regulatory teams to assure compliance initiatives are implemented effectively

  • Participate in trade organization initiatives, regulatory peer groups and safety organizations pertinent to assigned responsibilities

 

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering/Science or a closely related field of study; exceptional work experience may be substituted for holding a degree

  • Prior experience supporting exploration and production operations strongly desired

  • Three or more years of professional safety experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold professional certification (CSP, CIH, OHST, CHMM) or have ability and commitment to achieve certification within a defined timeline upon employment

  • Prior experience in an operations role and with management system implementation desired
